Alycia is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Louisiana. Alycia graduated with a Bachelors in Education and later went on to receive a M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Louisiana State University. Alycia’s initial passion for counseling came from her time as an Educator where she saw the struggles of her students and recognized the great need for mental health counselors. Alycia is an active member of the Louisiana Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association. She has experience in providing individual, couples, and family therapy. In addition, Alycia has worked with a wide age range of individuals from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. Alycia specializes in working with both individuals and couples. Issues may range from depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, phase of life concerns, negative self-esteem, grief or loss, women’s issues, communication problems in couples, infidelity, separation, divorce mediation, co-parenting but living apart and dealing with a partner’s trauma or illness. Alycia believes that in order to treat the “whole person”, counseling should be compassionate, honest and nonjudgmental; allowing for clients to have a safe space while working collaboratively together to achieve healthier and happier lives. Her therapeutic interventions include utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, Sand-tray therapy techniques, Family Systems therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Existential Therapy.
